Preflop holdem should be played in a wise manner and it determines the major flow of winning.  There are some hands that you can play, while there are still some that you need to fold rather play.  You need to decide on what to play and what not.  Here are some ideas on what to play in pre-flop holdem and what not to play.

Popularly there is confusion if KK should be thrown away in preflop holdem. It is not really necessary to fold such even in the presence of AA per some of the expert players.  However, this can turn out to be kind of loss; however what turns up in the flop can help you decide better, but you need not necessarily throw KK and there is not a definitely established reason to throw KK in the preflop holdem round. But if you happen to feel someone had better Aces, better muck.

Never decide to throw away your hands quite in a confusing manner, be very calculative; however, with most of the concentration of all players being in playing the preflop holdem wisely you can expect to face a major loss with the second best hand.

Pairs of queen and jacks are also strong hands to play in preflop holdem round; however AK with being one of the best hands, you need to be careful that you do not hang on to it.  AK can turn traps, most of the time!

Similarly based on what your opponents are in to and based on how their hand pays do not hesitate to throw away strong hands like QQ and JJ also.  There are recommended strong hands and it is not always true that everyone with strong hands win.  Strong hands are good beginnings however, correct strategies determine the major of the best approaches in preflop holdem; and, see to that you are not playing worthless hands, strong hands can also turn out to be based on opponent strategies and can lead to bad beats in the river!

However, based on what your odds suggest the best of the starting hands can be raised and in fact re-raise in late positions comfortably. Another major error in preflop holdem would be defending blinds and having almost all stacks getting diminished towards such an effort. Never be towards stealing antes and blinds unless you are in the best position for such.  Despite making a forced bet fold if that hand is worse to win.
